Refunds and Chargebacks
Your Stripe account is a stand-alone account, meaning you can manage every aspect of it. Any revenue you generate from the sale of your classes and courses is processed to your Stripe account only and does not pass through AccuSkills.
Access the following tools from your Stripe account
When you set up your AccuSkills account, you created a separate, dedicated Stripe account to manage the charging, processing, and payment from your students. While Stripe interfaces with AccuSkills, we do not have access to your Stripe account or bank details. There are certain functions that must be done by logging into your Stripe account directly.
Refunds
You can issue complete or partial refunds for any student purchase. Will the student can receive 100% of the purchase price of any in-person class or online course, you will not be refunded for any Stripe credit card charges or for lessons purchased on the Lesson Marketplace or through buying lessons directly from another institution.
For example, let’s say you created a course that costs the student $100, and you purchased $10 of lessons from the Lesson Marketplace. The total revenue split is:
$100 course price
- $10 for purchased lessons
- $3.20 for Stripe fees
Your total revenue = $86.80
- $10 for purchased lessons
- $3.20 for Stripe fees
Your total revenue = $86.80
If you decide to issue a full refund to the student, the student will receive $100, but the $13.20 in fees you paid will not be refunded to you.
Deposits
You can view the daily deposits made from Stripe into your bank account through your Stripe dashboard.
Chargebacks
Your students can contact their credit card company to dispute any charge on their account. The credit card company will remove that charge and deduct the full amount from your bank account until the chargeback claim has been resolved. The bank will contact you, the merchant, for an opportunity to dispute the charge. Unfortunately this is a reality all online business must face, so it’s best to help reduce chargebacks by stating a clear refund policy and working with your customers to handle disputes.
If a user issues a chargeback, Stripe will deduct the disputed amount from your account and charge a $15 chargeback fee. Since you are using your own Stripe account with AccuSkills, you are fully responsible for managing all chargebacks.
